- Master's degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as compulsory/elective subject at degree level; OR Master's degree in English with Hindi as compulsory/elective at degree level; OR Master's degree in any other subject with Hindi/English as medium or compulsory subject at degree level. AND
- Recognized Diploma/Certificate in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa OR 2 years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central/State Government Office including PSUs.
- Same Master's degree as above.
- AND
- Recognized Diploma/Certificate in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa OR 3 years' experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central/State Government Office including PSUs.
- General/OBC/EWS (Male) : Rs.100/-

Selection Process : SSC JHT Recruitment 2026
- Paper-I (CBE): Objective type; used for shortlisting category-wise candidates for Paper-II. Minimum qualifying marks: UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, Others 20%
- Paper-II (Descriptive): Translation passages (Hindi ↔ English) and Essay; 200 marks; qualifying based on Paper-I merit
- Final Merit: 50% weightage of Paper-I + 100% weightage of Paper-II marks
- Post Preference & Allocation : Online Option Form to be submitted before FRTA; merit-cum-preference based allocation
- Document Verification: Conducted by User Departments/Organizations after declaration of final result

1. What are the key dates for the application process?
- The online application period is open from April 23, 2026, to May 14, 2026. The last date for online fee payment is May 15, 2026 (23:00 hours). If you need to correct your application, a window for form correction and online payment of correction charges will be available from May 19, 2026, to May 20, 2026.
- The application fee is ₹100 (Rupees one hundred only). However, women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) are exempted from paying the fee.
- Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old as of August 1, 2026 (born between August 2, 1996, and August 1, 2008). Age relaxations apply for reserved categories, such as 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC. Educational qualifications generally require a Master’s degree in Hindi or English (or another subject with Hindi/English as a medium) plus a recognized translation diploma/certificate or relevant experience.
Selection is based on performance in two papers:
- Paper-I: A Computer Based Examination consisting of objective-type questions.
- Paper-II: A descriptive paper. The final merit list and allocation of departments are determined by the combined performance in both papers and the post preferences exercised by the candidate.
- Yes. Candidates do not need to upload a pre-existing photo; instead, the application module is designed to capture a live photograph. When taking the live photo, candidates must ensure they are in a well-lit area with a plain background, look straight at the camera at eye level, and must not wear a cap, mask, or glasses.
