Qualification : Andaman & Nicobar Police Recruitment 2026

I. Executive & General Duty Roles

1. Sub-Inspector (Executive/GD)

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and a valid LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) driving license.

2. Constable (Executive/GD) & Fireman

• Requires a pass in the 12th Standard from a recognized Board or University.

II. Technical & Specialized Roles

Sub-Inspector (Technical branches):

• Police Radio: Bachelor’s degree in Science (with Physics/Math) or a Diploma in Electronics/ Communication/ Instrumentation.
• PMT: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• Marine Force (Master): Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and a valid Master Certificate (Level II).
• Fire Service (Station Officer): Bachelor’s degree in Science (with Physics/Chemistry/Math).

Asst. Sub-Inspector (Radio/Technician/Cipher): Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics and Mathematics or a Diploma in Engineering (Electronics/Telecommunication/Computer/IT).

Head Constable (Dealing Assistant/Store Keeper): Requires a 12th Standard pass and the ability to type 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi on a computer.

Constable (Driver): Requires a 10th Standard pass and a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) or Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) license.

Constable (Technical helpers/Greaser/Lascar): Generally requires a 10th Standard pass, and some roles require an ITI certificate in the relevant trade (e.g., Diesel Mechanic or Fitter).

III. Medical & Support Roles

• Nursing Assistant: Requires a 12th Standard pass (Science) and a 2-year Diploma in General Nursing/Midwifery or a B.Sc. in Nursing.
• Follower Staff (Cook, Barber, Tailor, etc.): Requires a 10th Standard pass and proficiency in the respective trade.
• Safai Karamchari: Requires a 10th Standard pass.

IV. Mandatory Physical Standards

In addition to educational qualifications, all candidates must meet physical requirements:

• Height: 168 cm for men (160 cm for ST) and 155 cm for women (148 cm for ST).
• Chest (Men): 81 cm unexpanded with a 4 cm minimum expansion.
