- In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the selection procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment should be 22 years
Qualification : Indian Airforce Recruitment 2026
- Educational Qualification: Passed Matriculation / 10th or equivalent with minimum pass marks from any Central, State, or UT Government recognized School Board as on the date of registration.
Musical Ability:
- Proficiency in music with accuracy in tempo, pitch, and singing one complete song.
- Ability to perform one preparatory tune and read notations (Staff notation / Tablature / Tonic Solfa / Hindustani / Carnatic etc.).
- Ability to tune individual instruments (if applicable) and match unknown notes on vocal or instruments.
- Proficiency in playing at least one instrument from List A or List B (Proficiency in one from each list is desirable).
- List-A: Concert Flute/Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet in Eb/Bb, Saxophone in Eb/Bb, French Horn in F/Bb, Trumpet in Eb/C/Bb, Trombone in Bb/G, Baritone, Euphonium, Bass/Tuba in Eb/Bb.
- List-B: Keyboard/Organ/Piano, Guitar (Acoustic/Lead/Bass), Violin/Viola/String Bass, Percussion/Drums (Acoustic/Electronic), All Indian Classical Instruments.
- Grade 5 or equivalent or above in one instrument from a recognized music institute (e.g., TCL, RSM, KM Music Conservatory, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI, Berklee School of Music, etc.).
- Diploma or equivalent in music for Hindustani or Carnatic Classical Music from a recognized university.
- Certificate of participation/awards at events. For such candidates, performance/playing of blowing instruments with staff notation is mandatory as mentioned in educational qualifications.
Height:
- Male: Minimum 162 cms.
- Female: Minimum 152 cms (147 cms for North East/hilly regions of Uttarakhand; 150 cms for Lakshadweep ethnicity). Hilly region/domicile certificate endorsements are mandatory.
Chest Expansion: Minimum circumference of 77 cms for males with at least 05 cms expansion. For females, the chest wall should be well-proportioned with a minimum range of expansion of 05 cms.
Hearing: Normal hearing (able to hear a forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately).
Dental: Healthy gums, good set of teeth, and a minimum of 14 dental points. No points for dental implants/prosthesis. Fixed/removable orthodontic appliances make a candidate unfit.
Visual Standards:
- Visual Acuity: 6/12 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye.
- Refractive Error Limits: Hypermetropia +2.00, Myopia -1.0, including 0.50 D Astigmatism.
- Colour Vision: CP-II.
- History of LASIK/PRK will not be accepted. Spectacle prescriptions brought along must not be older than one month.
General Health: Free from active/latent, acute/chronic medical or surgical disability, communicable diseases, or skin ailments. No predominant characteristics of the opposite gender or history of gender reassignment surgery.
Narcotics & Alcohol: Zero tolerance policy. Consumption of NDPS Act banned substances is a rejection criterion.
Body Tattoos: Permanent tattoos are not permitted except on the inner face of forearms, back (dorsal) part of the hand, or for tribals following customs. Offensive/indecent tattoos are prohibited everywhere. Final acceptance rests with the selection center.
Sikh Candidates: Permitted to grow hair/retain a beard and moustache as per specifications, and must provide photos displaying the same.

- PFT-I: 1.6 Km run.
- Male Candidates: Within 7 minutes.
- Female Candidates: Within 8 minutes.
- PFT-II: Conducted after a 10-minute break for qualifiers of PFT-I.
- Male Exercises: 10 Push-ups (1 minute), 10 Sit-ups (1 minute), 20 Squats (1 minute).
- Female Exercises: 10 Sit-ups (1 minute 30 seconds), 15 Squats (1 minute).
- Conducted for candidates who qualify PFT.
- Format: Objective type on OMR sheet, question paper in English only.
- Duration: 30 minutes, comprising 30 questions based on Matriculation/10th CBSE syllabus.
- Marking Pattern: +1 mark for every correct answer; 0 marks for un-attempted or multiple answers. There is no negative marking.
- Results are declared on the same day.
- Conducted for candidates who pass the English written test. Evaluated individually or in a group of instruments.
- Conducted in September 2026 at 11 AFH, Hindon and SMC, AF Stn Jalahalli for MPT qualifiers.
- Includes blood tests, urine test, biochemistry panels (sugar, cholesterol, urea, creatinine, bilirubin, SGOT, SGPT), chest radiograph, USG (for females), and ECG.
- Unfit candidates can appeal via the Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by depositing ₹40/- through e-MRO/MRO within three working days. Candidates should prepare for a 4-5 days stay under their own arrangement.

Q1: Who is eligible to apply for the Agniveervayu (Musician) intake 01/2027?
- Ans: Unmarried Indian male and female candidates born between 01 January 2005 and 01 July 2009 (both dates inclusive) who have passed Matriculation (10th standard) or equivalent with minimum pass marks are eligible.
- Ans: Online registration opens at 11:00 AM on 20 July 2026 and closes at 11:00 PM on 02 August 2026. Applications can only be filled out online at the web portal https://iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in.
- Ans: The pre-registered recruitment rally will be held from 31 August 2026 to 09 September 2026. The tests take place at two venues: 2 ASC, Race Course Camp, New Delhi, and 7 ASC, Cubbon Road, Bengaluru. Candidates must select two venue choices in order of preference during registration.
- Ans: No. Candidates must remain unmarried during the entire four-year engagement period. Agniveervayu who marry or are found to be married will be dismissed from the service. Female candidates must also undertake not to get pregnant; becoming pregnant will make them liable for dismissal and bar them from selection into the Regular Cadre.
- Ans: Apart from 10th pass marks, you must show proficiency in playing an instrument from the specified List A or List B. You must also possess one of the following: a Grade 5 or above certificate from a recognized music institute (like TCL, RSM), a Diploma in Hindustani/Carnatic classical music, or certificates of awards/participation at events along with the ability to read staff notation.

- Ans: No. Mobile phones, smartwatches, and all other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the testing areas. Any candidate found in possession of these devices will be permanently debarred from the examination.
- Ans: Agniveervayu will receive a starting salary package of ₹30,000/- per month in the 1st year, rising up to ₹40,000/- per month in the 4th year. Upon completion of the 4-year service period, they will receive a one-time "Seva Nidhi" package totaling approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs (absolute amount excluding interest), consisting of their own monthly contributions matched equally by the Government of India.
- Ans: No. Agniveervayu enrolled under this scheme are not eligible for Ex-Servicemen status after their discharge upon completion of the four-year engagement period. There is also no entitlement to gratuity or any kind of pensionary benefits.
- Ans: The application fee is ₹100/- plus 18% GST (non-refundable). If multiple payments are received against a single application, the excess money will be refunded to the originating account after the registration closes. However, if you submit multiple applications, only the one with the highest sequence number is accepted, and fees for the others will not be refunded.
